A: In the new model, a Node is any device with an IP address you want to monitor (Router, Switch, Server, VM). Unlike legacy licensing, you do not need to count Interfaces (ports) or Volumes (disks). If you monitor 100 Switches, you need a 100-Node license, regardless of how many ports they have.
Q: I have NPM SL500 and SAM AL150. How do I migrate?
A: You simply sum up the total number of unique nodes you are monitoring across both products. If you have 400 Network Nodes and 100 Server Nodes, you would purchase a SolarWinds Observability Essentials 500-Node license. We can help you with a precise "Node Count Report".
Q: Does Essentials include NetFlow or Config Backups?
A: No. Traffic analysis (NTA) and Configuration Management (NCM) are features of the Advanced tier. Essentials focuses on Health, Performance, and Availability.
